Twinning municipalities

Leppävirta twins with four municipalities worldwide. The Swedish municipality of Storfors "adopted" Sorsakoski after WWII; the friendly relations extended later to include the entire municipality of Leppävirta.

Leppävirta started twinning with Dovre in central Norway in 1985 and with the German municipality of Schwerte in 1992. The twinning relationship with Orissaare, in Saarenmaa, Estonia, started in 1996.
